Fire testing scope

Rockwool have undertaken a rigorous fire resistance testing program for use of Ablative Coated Batt in penetration seal applications. This program examined the fire resistance performance of Ablative Coated Batt when used for sealing penetrations in different wall constructions, and with a wide variety of penetrations – plastic pipes, metal pipes, cables & ducts. All tests were conducted at UKAS accredited fire test laboratories to BSEN 1366-3: 2006 standard.

The tables below show likely performance in fire stopping services in various sized apertures within different wall constructions:

As part of the system solution Rockwool Acoustic Intumescent Sealant, Insulated Fire Sleeve, FireTube and Conlit Bandage were used to seal various blank seal, pipe and cable penetrations in these tests. All tests were conducted at UKAS accredited fire test laboratories to BSEN 1366-3: 2006 standard.

Given the range of tests, an assessment of scope has been produced by Chiltern International Fire Ltd. This Assessment gives details of the Tested and Approved configurations of penetration sealing systems fitted within a Rockwool Ablative Coated Batt sealing system. A copy of this assessment is available on request from Technical Support; however it is worth noting that Rockwool has a continuous improvement policy for product development. It is recommended to check on www.rockwool.co.uk from time to time or the most up-to-date copy of the assessment
