Introduction
To satisfy the requirements of the European Directive on Energy Performance of Buildings (EPBD) new improved energy performance standards have been set for all new buildings in Northern Ireland
The 'Building Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2000, Part F, Conservation of fuel and power', deals with energy conservation requirements in Northern Ireland.
Revisions to Part F regulations were made in 2006 and subsequent minor revisions were further made in August 2008.
The Part F regulations set energy performance requirements that achieve a reduction in carbon emissions of up to 30% on previous standards,
The main elements of the amendment are to introduce a 'Whole Building Approach' based on the calculated energy performance of buildings using defined national calculation methodologies.
